Burford Holly is a tough evergreen shrub with glossy dark leaves and bright red winter berries. Each leaf carries a single spine at the tip, so it is far easier to work around than spinier hollies. Left to grow it becomes upright and rounded, typically 8–12 ft tall and 6–10 ft wide, but it takes shearing well and is often held at hedge height for years.
